What is Solid?+

A pod is a small personal data store that lives on the web at an address you own. It works like a private cloud drive — but instead of a company holding your files, you hold them. How do I get a pod?+
A popular free option is solidcommunity.net. Sign up with an email address and choose a username — it takes about two minutes. Once you have a pod, come back to mnera.io and sign in. Your bookmarks will be saved there immediately.
Do I need technical knowledge to use this?+
Not at all. Getting a pod feels like signing up for any web service. After that, mnera.io works like any bookmarking tool. The underlying Solid technology is completely invisible to you.
Can mnera.io read my bookmarks?+
No — and this is the key point. mnera.io reads and writes your pod directly from your browser. Our servers never receive your bookmark data. We have no technical means to access it, even if we wanted to. Your data belongs to you in the most literal sense.
What happens if I stop using mnera.io?+
Your bookmarks stay in your pod, which you own. You can export them to HTML, JSON, Markdown, or RDF Turtle at any time, or simply download the raw data file from your pod. Nothing is trapped.
Does mnera.io work with other Solid apps?+
Yes. Bookmarks are stored using the W3C Bookmark ontology — an open standard. Any Solid-compatible tool can read the same data. You are never locked in to mnera.io specifically.
What is a personal knowledge graph?+
A personal knowledge graph is a connected network of the things you know, where you found them, and how they relate to each other. Unlike a flat list of bookmarks, a knowledge graph links ideas — so a saved article on machine learning can connect to related topics, tutorials, and references you've collected over time.
