Raindrop.io and mnera.io are both modern, well-designed bookmark managers — the difference isn't UI quality, it's where your data lives and what shape it takes. Raindrop is a cloud service that stores your archive on its servers in a proprietary schema. mnera.io stores it as W3C linked data in a Solid pod you own, with an Atlas view designed for archives in the thousands.
The short version
- Pick Raindrop if you need native iOS and Android apps, a browser extension for every major browser, and you're fine with your archive living on Raindrop's servers.
- Pick mnera.io if you care about long-term data ownership, your archive is something you expect to keep for decades, or you want a connected knowledge graph with Atlas visualisations rather than a list of saved links.

Where Raindrop wins
- Native mobile apps. Raindrop ships iOS and Android clients. mnera.io is a web app — it works in a mobile browser, but there's no installable app yet.
- Browser-extension breadth. Raindrop has extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. mnera.io is Chrome-only today.
- Automatic full-page previews. Raindrop fetches and renders previews of every saved page server-side, so the cover-image wall is consistent regardless of source. mnera.io fetches cover images on demand instead.
- Larger community. Years of head-start, more reviews, a more familiar SaaS shape. If that signal matters to you, it's worth the consideration.
Where mnera.io wins
- You own the data layer. Bookmarks live in your Solid pod, not on a vendor's servers. If mnera.io shuts down tomorrow, your archive is untouched and another Solid app can read it.
- Real linked data. W3C Bookmark ontology + Dublin Core, in Turtle. Not Raindrop JSON or a vendor-specific schema.
- Atlas view. Topic sunburst, domain bubble pack, 3-year activity heatmap, topic-share-over-time stacked area, and a cover mosaic — every chart drills into a filtered list. Designed for summarising archives in the thousands.
- End-to-end encryption (optional). A passphrase per pod encrypts every bookmark file in the browser before it leaves the device. Even the pod host can't read the contents.
- No tracking. Anonymous cookie-free page metrics only; no profiling, no advertising, no access to your bookmark contents.
Migrating from Raindrop
Raindrop exports to CSV. mnera.io imports CSV directly: collections map to collections, tags map to topics, descriptions and titles survive. Nested collections come through as topic hierarchies. Allow about a minute per thousand bookmarks for the import to complete.
